Brett devotes his practice to the defense of businesses, corporations, insurance companies, and commercial insureds in litigated matters in state and federal courts throughout Alabama. Brett has successfully defended clients across multiple practice areas with a primary focus on personal injury, products liability, wrongful death, and commercial transportation cases. Additionally, Brett has represented insurance carriers in direct actions involving claims of breach of contract, bad faith, and outrage.

Brett is admitted to practice law in all state and federal courts in the state of Alabama and the U.S. Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Brett was named a Rising Star in Birmingham Magazine’s 2018 Top Attorneys peer review survey and rated by Super Lawyers as a Mid-South Rising Star for the personal injury defense practice group.

Brett is an active member of the Alabama State Bar and the Birmingham Bar Association. He currently serves as an officer on the Alabama State Bar Young Lawyers Executive Committee and is slated to serve as President of the ASB Young Lawyers Section for the 2022-2023 term. Brett also has served on the Birmingham Bar Association Young Lawyers Executive Committee since 2018. Outside of the legal community, Brett is a member of the Junior Board for Magic Moments, a Birmingham organization devoted to creating magic moments in the lives of Alabama children suffering from chronic and life-threatening illnesses.

Brett studied History at the University of Alabama and subsequently graduated from the University of Alabama School of Law. During law school, Brett served as the Managing Editor of The Journal of Legal Profession and his work on counsel’s decision-making autonomy in the context of criminal appeals was published in the Journal.

Brett is married to Taylor Patterson Holsombeck of Birmingham. Taylor and Brett are the proud parents of boy-girl twins, Henry and Charlotte. The Holsombeck family are members of Canterbury United Methodist Church. In his spare time, Brett enjoys hunting, saltwater fishing, and spending time with his beloved children.
